Yards advises Aquila AM on Catella's acquisition of a stake in its capital

The law firm Yards has advised the founders and managing partners of Aquila Asset Management (Aquila Group) on the acquisition of a majority stake in its capital by Catella. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second half of 2023.

The Aquila Group (comprising Aquila Asset Management and the real estate investment fund management company Axipit Real Estate Partners) was founded in 2010 by Jean-Marc Sabiani and Gilles Barbieri. Axipit Real Estate Partners, which will be launched in 2021, offers solutions to both retail and professional investors and is regulated by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers. Together, the two companies cover €1.4 billion in assets under management.

Catella, an investment management company based in Stockholm, has acquired the shares from the founders and managing partners, who will remain minority shareholders.

This strategic partnership will enable Aquila AM to accelerate its strategy of becoming a global player in real estate investment. It will now be able to draw on Catella’s European network, and the two entities aim to form a very strong team, both in Europe and on the French market.
